Driven by rapid industrial growth and global recognition in textile manufacturing, Tiruppur district has emerged as one of the most dynamic regions in western Tamil Nadu. The surge in textile exports during the 1990s created strong demands for improved civic administration and decentralized governance, leading to the establishment of the Tiruppur City Municipal Corporation in 2008 and the official formation of the district on February 22, 2009, as the state’s 32nd district through the reorganization of parts of Erode district and Coimbatore district.
Geographically, it is bordered by Coimbatore to the west, Erode to the north, Karur to the east, and Dindigul to the south, featuring fertile plains and gently undulating terrain suitable for agriculture and industry, while the presence of the Western Ghats ensures a moderate and favorable climate; although renowned for its thriving textile sector, agriculture remains crucial, with nearly 30 percent of the population engaged in farming across a net cultivated area of about 1,92,940 hectares, and ongoing improvements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and connectivity continue to support balanced growth that integrates strong rural foundations with vibrant urban industries.
Tiruppur District Welfare Society, established with the objective of uniting individuals and corporates on a common platform to contribute towards the welfare and inclusive development of Tiruppur district. The Society provides a structured and transparent mechanism to support initiatives in education, healthcare, skill development, and social upliftment. Functioning under the leadership of the District Collector with an Executive Committee comprising official and non-official members, the Society ensures accountability and effective implementation of welfare activities. I invite all stakeholders to actively participate and support this initiative for the sustainable and inclusive progress of Tiruppur district.
